Jim has served as an arbitrator since the mid-1980s. He is state qualified and is frequently appointed as a non-binding arbitrator by the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court in and for Collier County, Florida. He also serves as a binding arbitrator, a special master and as an insurance appraiser/umpire.

Jim served as a Special Master in a class action that was pending in the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court in and for Lee County, Florida. The class action initially involved over 400 potential claimants. Ultimately, Jim administered and decided over 225 claims, and his findings and conclusions were approved in their entirety by the Circuit Court.

Arbitration Decisions: Jim has rendered decisions involving simple awards (merely stating the relief granted to the prevailing party), as well as reasoned decisions of between 10 and 30 pages, involving detailed findings of fact and conclusions of law. He also has rendered awards that include determinations of entitlement to and the amount of recoverable attorneys’ fees.
